The bill prohibits an employer from allowing employees to become or remain members of a labor organization or union. The bill creates civil and criminal penalties for violations. The bill also states that all union agreements are unfair labor practices.
Legislative procedure in Colorado requires every introduced bill to have a hearing in committee. The committee members will either support the bill and vote pass it out of committee for consideration by the full body, or kill the bill and vote to "postpone indefinitely.”
A pro-education vote on SB 55 on the Senate Floor was a “no” vote. However, the motion in the House State, Veterans and Military Affairs Committee was to "postpone indefinitely” so the pro-education vote was a “yes” vote.
