SB 17-158: Modify Composition of PERA Board of Trustees

The bill modifies the composition of the PERA Board by eliminating elected positions from the school and state divisions; limiting the age of certain elected positions; and adding more Governor appointments who are not PERA members or retirees.

Legislative procedure in Colorado requires every introduced bill to have a hearing in committee. The committee members will either support the bill and vote pass it out of committee for consideration by the full body, or kill the bill and vote to "postpone indefinitely.”

A pro-education vote on SB 158 on the Senate Floor was a “no” vote. However, the motion in the House State, Veterans and Military Affairs Committee was to "postpone indefinitely” so the pro-education vote was a “yes” vote.
